Eat Diamonds For Breakfast And Shine All Day
“The state of mind that exists when you sit in the right posture is, itself, enlightenment.” Shunryu Suzuki, Roshi, Author of Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind
“Each of us is like a diamond, and each of us has the potential to be brilliant.” Simon T. Bailey
My great grandpa says, “You practice this mindfulness of breathing to sharpen your sword of mind, to polish your diamond of mind.” from Holding the Lotus to the Rock, The Autobiography of Sokei-an, America’s First Zen Master, Edited by Michael Hotz
Eating diamonds for breakfast and shining all day is our attitude of gratitude = altitude that we (funzen girls or guys) bring to our activities of daily life. We polish our diamond by resetting our intention to focus on the positive, be mindful of our breath and posture to relax muscular tension and release stress. We live in integrity when we align our values with actions. Values like, self love, self respect, self discipline and freedom from fear. Note, the highest values mentioned all start with self, no one can give them to us, we eat and digest them for ourselves.
Q&A What is an Intention?
Kim: An intention is a manifestation, an aim, a plan, an energetic lasered statement of your desire that you wish to fulfill. Intentions direct the action of your life. You want to base intentions on qualities of experiences and always state in the positive and present tense. Intentions lift us, they keep us focused, they keep us awake and aware in determining all that we want to manifest. Intentions create your life. For example:
My intention is to release judgement today and allow forgiveness to lead the way.
My intention is to express myself in a calm and kind manner, even when it may be difficult.
My intention is to make decisions in my life based on integrity and honesty. Why is gratitude so important? Gratitude is important because how can we be ready to receive more goodness when we are not aware and grateful for what we already have and accomplished.
The Q and A above comes from brilliant, bold beauty Kim Stanwood Terranova, author of The Technology of Intention, Activating the power of the Universe Within You Here’s her contact information: Twitter, Instagram, Website.

You Can Make Your Own Luck
Secrets of the Universe: In the words of Victoria Moran, author of Creating a Charmed Life... Sensible, Spiritual Secrets Every Busy Woman Should Know, “Creating a charmed life is, at its foundation, spiritual.”
Discovering how to be mindful and love yourself more, starts with recognizing that you are a spiritual being having a human experience. Your spirit is your true self not your personality (or ego). Love, peace, joy, self control and grit are fruits of the spirit; (Galatians 5:22-23) they’re also your spiritual muscles which can help you grow and learn effortlessly. I call this inner workout, ‘soul work’. Activate your 3G superpowers; Stay Grounded, (posture) Grateful (heart), and Gorgeous (spirit). When we cultivate mastery of the fundamentals, we have a firm foundation to build from. There are no fruits without the roots.
Life Coaching Tip:. When doubt creeps in, Stop in the name of love. Hit zen pause (ahhh), reset focus, smile and flex your ‘love yourself enough’ spiritual muscle. This tiny miraculous shift takes you from ‘worrier to warrior’. As the lovely message in the image above suggests, crossing your fingers, saying a prayer or mantra, carrying a charm, hearing your favorite song; these simple actions work like a charm to ignite your brilliance. We got this. Be yourself with courage, confidence and resllience. “Fall 7, Rise 8”. Japanese proverb #Loveyourselffirst 💚💕
Jim Carrey said it best, “You will only have two choices: love or fear. Choose love, and don’t ever let fear turn you against your playful heart.” ❤️
Thank you for stepping onto to this blog. Yes, you are loved and charmed right where you are, each and every day of the year. 🧲 143 from the Funzen girls Ox 😘😘😘

Enlightenment is the Journey From the Head to Heart with Ho'oponopono
WHAT IS HO’OPONOPONO? AND HOW IT HELPS? By Joe Vitale
“Ho’oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian practice still in use today and is well-known for the miracle it does in clearing negativity from one’s mind and thought. It is believed to be designed to wipe out all the negativity in our thoughts and those blocks that are keeping us miserable. Dr. Joe Vitale is a renowned Ho’oponopono creator, practitioner; the author says that there are a large number of us who don’t have the luxury of enjoying peace, harmony or joy forever in our lives. It is believed that external negativity plays a role and we are saddled right from our birth. And this Hawaiian technique Ho’oponopono has been specifically designed to remove all the stress and negativity from your mind and let us enjoy the eternal happiness forever. It is a simple technique where you ask for forgiveness and purifying yourself. What’s Ho’oponopono remedy that works so fine and takes away all your guilt? The answer to this question can be discussed through the four steps of performing Ho’oponopono in the section below.
There are four phrases or steps that the practitioner can follow and the magical healing starts from within. The four steps involved in this practice make you realize the fact that you are responsible for everything that happens to you and that is in your mind. Once you realize this fact it becomes easy for you to start practicing the steps.
The first step asks you to say sorry for everything that has happened or any wrong thing that you have witnessed. It makes it easy for you to move ahead in your life once you know the fact and has the courage to say sorry for anything that was wrong, you will feel better.
Once you are able to say sorry the second step requires you to ask for forgiveness. You will be seeking forgiveness for everything you felt sorry for in the first step. While doing so you are asking to forgive everything from you and your past memories that may have been involved in the wrong doing. These may sound weird for many of us but once you mean what you say the process is magical.
The third step that you must go through is showing your gratitude for everything that has happened to your life. This way you will learn to appreciate everything that is big or small in your life. You might get an unexpected response for this thank you but you need not worry about the result or response. In right time the correct result will appear in front of you. This step will help you to have patience as well.
The last step that you need to follow is to show your love and say I love you to everything that is yours. This way you will learn to love everything related to you.
What’s Ho’oponopono theory of magic that will help you can be elaborated further with the effect that each step has on you. It makes you stronger and gives you the courage to face the truth and tell the truth. You will feel better when you know that your request for the forgiveness has been granted and people are going to trust you again. There are no human being in the planet who do not commit sins either knowingly or unknowingly. The ones who have the courage to see their mistake, come forward to seek forgiveness are the successful ones. Live your life with no grudges and you will be the happiest one.”

“I've been absolutely terrified every moment of my life - and I've never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do.” Georgia O'Keeffe
Mindful Angel Tip: Mindfulness is paying attention to the present moment without judgment.
When we listen to our thoughts with harsh judgment we become anxious or self critical. We start to believe our negative thoughts (monkey chatter) instead of letting
them go ~whoosh~ so we can take action like Georgia O’Keefe.
Simply put, in the spirit of St. Nike, “Just do it” or “Just be it.”
Note that ‘Just do it” is a Zen Koan
The miracle comes when you choose to assume self control (power of your spirit) and make a loving shift from worrier to warrior in the here and now.

Daily Self-Love Quotable: “In the practice of Momfulness, we mother not only our children, but also ourselves. When I work with clients (who are mostly moms) … Too often their inner voice is a harsh and critical one. As they develop a positive mothering presence within themselves, they are better able to soothe themselves when they are feeling stressed or anxious. Then they are able to mother their own kids in a much more compassionate way.”

Manifesting Our Dreams and Zen Miracles
Updated: January 16, 2022
Dreaming True.
Earlier this year my dream came come true when my daughter, Grace, joined me to visit Dr. Brenda Shoshanna aka Eshin* for a Zen Miracles Tea Party in Manhattan, NYC. I recall listening to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin sing “Don’t Let Me Lose This Dream” and simply imagining a meeting with Eshin for a cup of green tea. I looked forward to discussing how she turns problems into zen koans and applies zen wisdom to everyday life. Truly the zen miracle was sharing a comment on the back of her latest book, Zen Play, Instructions on Becoming Fully Alive.
*Eshin in Japanese means wisdom.
How to Drink a Mindful Cup of Tea from Lion’s Roar magazine by Joseph Emet
There is an ancient saying in the Tea/Zen world: “Cha Zen Ichi Mi”, which means “Tea and Zen, One Taste” from Sweet Persimmon, The Art and Practice of Chado ~The Japanese tea ceremony (茶道, sadō or chadō, lit. "the way of tea" or 茶の湯, chanoyu)
Water Reflection Quotes That Will Enlighten You Compliled by Eric
“We cannot see our reflection in running water. It is only in still water that we can see.” – Zen Proverb
“Just as the water reflects the stars and the moon, the body reflects the mind and the soul. “– Rumi
“Only in still waters do things reflect undistorted.”– Anne Brown
A cup of tea or coffee is a nice break. Drinking it mindfully is a real break. Joseph Emet teaches us this five-step practice.
Straight from my grateful heart (kokoro in Japanese ) here’s a Pixie Power Packet with a little star magic to ground your gorgeous zen spirit while you sip tea and reflect on a quote that inspires and rewires you to be who are and believe in the miracle you are. “Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.”
This concept was initially taught to me awhile back while working with Michi... however I came to understand it on a greater level when I was presented with situations that were essential I respond calmly in the eye of the storm.
As a realtor, I deal with ups and downs of the industry quite often. As always in life, we are given the choice how to respond to a stressful situation. Sometimes it's difficult to get ourselves into peace mode... we can easily think the worst and see disaster ...but with a single breath meditation, using my mindful posture tool, (the miracle diamond of mindfulness) and choosing to shift from fear to love...allows for a clear mind and peaceful heart in the eye of the storm. Don't get me wrong...the outside noise is still there...but we can go within and find our center superpowered by 3Gs Grounded, Grateful, and Gorgeous so that we aren't distracted by the chaos around us. That way when we do respond ... we are at our best and have that clarity to handle whatever life presents.

In ”Zen Odyssey, The Story of Sokei-an, Ruth Fuller Sasaki, and the Birth of Zen in America”, my great grandpa, Sokei-an mentions repeatedly his koan, ”Zen is daily life.” 🖤
Koans go beyond logic, they’re only understood intuitively and experientially. To clarify, it’s living our art or practice of ”everyday enlightenment”, according to my friend, author of ”Peaceful Warrior, and Everyday Enlightenment”, Dan Millman.

"I use my 3Gs to be grounded with mindful posture, breath, grateful, and gorgeous, classy and badassy. "A grateful heart is a magnet for miracles." Unknown
I repeatedly thank my lucky stars that a mutual friend Michaela Dietz, who is the voice of Amethyst on Steven Universe, introduced me to author and life coach Michiko Rolek. At the time I met Michiko my daughter Isabelle was 8-months-old and I was struggling with postpartum depression. It was one of the lowest points of my life and meeting Michiko was an enlightening experience; she was a bright light that shone through the darkness. I began learning about daily roots and wings and coaching with her after that first meeting. I vividly remember sitting across from her at Starbucks when she asked me life changing questions after I had shared about Isabelle's colic and our struggles with bedtime and sleep. I learned how to relax and breathe to get grounded and release stress. I'm grateful to practice reaching stillness in the daily storms of life. I celebrate finding gorgeous moments to share ”MOMfulness” with other mom's like Amy Fukuizumi, who says, ”I've been waking every morning repeating my mindful mantra, 'I am grateful for being grounded in my gorgeous spirit' and every day...has been a little bit of magic.” #selflovebalm

Using my Hallelujah Voice
Updated: 10/9/21
They say three is a magic number. I recently mentioned to a friend that my daughter Grace, successful voice-over actor, and Joey Santiago, lead guitarist for the American alternative rock band the Pixies, were the only two people that used the zen secret tools from my book Mental Fitness to "unleash their brilliant performer" professionally. For instance, when Grace is playing the role of Connie, on Cartoon Network, she grounds her spirit with a grateful heart to capture gorgeous moments to stay in her funzen zone. She calls being superpowered by her 3Gs, grounded, grateful, gorgeous, FunZen coaching.
When our hearts are open, also known in zen as "empty your cup," magic happens. Our intuitive wisdom comes calling, and creativity flows. The very air in the room becomes charged with the gift of possibilities. Inspired from Bellruth Naparstek, author, teacher and guided imagery pioneer.
Out of the blue, I was reminded that Leonard Cohen was the third. He also used my zen secret tools to go back on the road to perform gloriously.
Joey Santiago's “zazen moment" (sitting medtitation) with Pixies band mates Black Francis, Paz Lenchantin, David Lovering~ 5/5/17. In this picture Joey is activating Alan Watts' wise words, "When man feels free to be all of himself, there is a magic in every littlest act and thought."
Around the time I was planning to share this post, I was asked by Leonard Cohen's social media voice, Allan Showalter, to share a picture of Leonard and I, which coincided with my comment about teaching Grace and Joey. Allan was also interested in sharing some of the ideas in this new blog, using my hallelujah voice. Check out, Michiko's Lunch Conversation With Leonard Cohen & Their Menu. (clickable link)

Using my Hallelujah Voice
Out of the divine timing of events, I am grateful to share my recent Aha moment. "Leonard used the zen secret tools (brilliant basics) that we discussed at lunch to leave the zen monastery and go back on the road...Leonard lived his practice and he manifested mastery of the fundamentals like focus, dedication, discipline, and fearless confidence to stay in the zone."
I'm so grateful to see Joey Santiago take his "warrior of light" laser focus out on the road too. I appreciate Joey’s cultivation of “empty your cup” to activate the beginner's mind or zen mindset to become more mentally fit. Working with him to polish up his mindful gem, the miracle diamond with “Joey’s posture tune up” was a breath of fresh air.
A shout out to all of my students, past, present, and future, I'm honored and grateful to be a part of helping you to live in the moment and feel your best with Zen and the art of mindfulness. We got this.
Takeaway touchstone: From worrier to warrior, fear less with more self love.
Paraphrasing, when we concentrate on breathing and posture, the attitude of mind automatically comes right and mindfulness is manifested effortlessly” Taisen Deshimaru, Roshi
Shunryu Suzuki, author of spiritual classic, Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind says, “The state of mind that exists when you sit in the right posture is, itself, enlightenment."
What is Blissipline?
Blisscipline is the tri-harmony of self discipline, self love, and self respect. (update 5/1/19)
The ‘Blissipline’ in Discipline, inspired from Dr. Michael Beckwith, paraphrasing self discipline is a practice of self love, self respect, and sweet surrender that results in freedom.
“It takes discipline to be a free spirit.” Gabrielle Roth
“Zen aims at freedom, but its practice is disciplined.” – Gary Snyder
“I have now been reading your book, Mental Fitness, and it is truly wonderfully sane, healthy, and spiritual all in one. Leonard Cohen’s introduction is charming, and quite true. I would love to see you sometime teaching in action.”
